Servers
We use only the best components to build our servers. Our minimum server specifications are: Dual 5405 Harpertown CPUs giving 8 cores, massive RAID-10 hard drives and 8 GB RAM.
Our servers run Apache 2 on a customised version of CentOS Linux. This configuration gives us great performance, reliability and security.
Network
Our servers are housed in a world class, SAS 70 Type II Certified data centre. Our connectivity comes from multiple sources on an N+1 bassis, meaning that if 100 Mbits are needed 200 Mbits are provided. We have backups of all major hardware in place ready to take over should something fail.
We have UPS systems and backup generators in place should power fail to the building. Generators are also specified on an N+1 basis. Our data centre is fitted with Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus which is monitored continually from a network operations centre. This is linked with an environmentally friendly gas-based fire retardant, to put out fires instantly without damaging equipment.
