Banister was a New Orleans Private Detective, who had previously been an FBI agent. He was associated with David Ferrie(evidence for this claim?), and were both connected with the CIA's anti-Castro operations. Oswald had offices in the same building as Banister. The building had two separate entrances, one was 544 Camp Street, and the other 531 Lafayette Street.

After Banister left the FBI in the fifties, he was asked by the mayor of New Orleans to come and become Deputy Chief of Police. He was retired from the Police in 1957 after an incident in a bar when he allegedly threatened a man with his gun. He stayed in New Orleans and started a detective agency, Guy Banister Associates.

Banister was a very active anti-comunist. He served as a munitions supplier to anti-Castro organisations and the Cuban Revolutionary Council had its New Orleans headquarters in the same building as his offices. Oswald also had offices in the same building (evidence?), and was seen meeting with Banister many times (evidence?). Oswald however, was at the time promoting strong pro-Castro views. A strange mix, and an interesting choice of office locations?
